Since 2011 Southall Community Alliance has co-ordinated the Ealing healthy walks programme which has grown in popularity and numbers. This borough wide programme of healthy walks is funded by Ealing Council.
Our aim is to extend the group walks into areas of high health needs and introduce more residents to the benefits of regular group exercise. The programme currently involves 13 walks that take place in Southall, Greenford, Northolt. Ealing, Hanwell and Acton, offering all Ealing residents reasonable access to a walk.
One of the successful outcomes of our current programme has been the increase in walking amongst Ealing residents most affected by health inequalities or health problems. This has only been possible by relying upon volunteers from voluntary and community sector groups across Ealing who have been able to extend the physical activity to their users and contacts.
All the walks are led by a friendly and trained walks leader, whose role it is to encourage and motivate the walkers to enjoy this fun, shared activity.
If you are interested in attending or just want to find out how to start a walk of your own, please contact Babie Kapoor on 0208 574 8855 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
